The Royal British Legion Standard Dedication

St Michael and All Angels Parish Church, Lambourn

On a snowy, inclement day, Sunday 4th March 2012, Lambourn Royal British Legion laid up their Standard of 35 years and dedicated their new Branch Standard so that it can now be paraded at public events, like repatriations of fallen servicemen and at Remembrance Day.
Reverend Bill Stewart presided over the Service. In fact he had presided over the Dedication Service for the old Standard in 1977. The Old Standard and its predecessor had been carried by Mr George Baker for over 40 years until he passed away in 2009. Members of George’s family were present at the Service. The Last Post and Reveille was played by Gareth Coulson. Over 150 people attended the Service.
Fifteen Royal British Legion Standards from around the County were paraded in the Church and afterwards were marched to the Lambourn Royal British Legion Club.
The Old Standard was laid up in the Lambourn Royal British Legion Club in memory of George. Members of his family were present whilst Revd Bill Stewart said a few words about George and the Standard.

The current Standard Bearer, Mr John North, carried the Old Standard into the Church and the New Standard from the Church.
