Michaelmas Festival 2007

During the weekend of Michaelmas (29th & 30th September) the church celebrated both its Patronal Festival of St. Michael and annual Gift Weekend. Throughout the weekend the church was open with a magnificent display of historical church artifacts, including silver belonging to our church and that of Woodlands St.Mary, which are normally kept at Christ Church, Oxford. Ancient tithe maps of the village and historic papers regarding the Isbury Almshouses were on display. Registers of Baptisms, Marriages and Burials were also on display.

Much preparation went into the displays of vestments, documents, church silver and of course magnificent flower arrangements throughout the church.

 ….. including choir practice for the Songs of Praise service which brought the weekend to a close on Sunday evening

The display included fascinating artifacts from the Isbury Almshouses….

… and music performed on our Father Willis organ and handbell ringing by The Lambourn Chimers.
