Lambourn water supply

Water is drawn from two boreholes located above Upper Lambourn near Park Farm. Then boreholes have been sunk deep into the chalk and powerful pumps lift the water up into the treatment section of the process. The water is very pure, however samples are taken and small amounts of cleansing chemicals added to ensure total purity.

The water is then pumped to a covered reservoir on the hill above the pumping and treatment station. From there the water flows by gravity through cast iron mains into Lambourn and on to the villages of Eastbury, East Garston and Great Shefford.

The Borehole

The water is also pumped up to the water tower in Baydon as well as along the B4000 where it supplies dwellings and villages as far away as Hungerford Newtown.

Thames Water supplies water to Lambourn and is responsible for extraction, supply and sewerage.
