Julie recognised for dedication to others

Ascot Racecourse was the setting for an award ceremony where Julie Blogg was recognised for her dedication and service to others. Willie Hartley Russel, the High Sheriff of Berkshire presented Julie with the award for her work leading the Lambourn Food Junction which provides food and groceries to those who need a helping hand.

“We started the Lambourn Food Junction when it became apparent that there are a number of individuals and families in the Lambourn area who really struggled to make ends meet.” said Julie, “No-one should have to go without food and we provide basic groceries without judgement – it is just the right thing to do.”

“The Lambourn Food Junction is there to help. We do not judge nor do we require needs assessments. We simply help those who for whatever reason cannot put food on the table at a moment in time.”

“We have received so much help from individuals and businesses in the community who have been incredibly generous with donations of groceries and funds.” said Julie, “It is distressing to see the level of food poverty some families are experiencing, however truly heartening to see how the community rallies to help”

The Lambourn Food Junction is located in the blue portable building in the car park behind Lambourn Universal Stores, The High Street, Lambourn. Opening hours: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday 11am to 1pm.

The Lambourn Food Junction is part of the Lambourn Junction Community Interest Company, a not for profit organisation which supports community activities in and around Lambourn West Berkshire.
