Introducing a new Councillor – Helen Noll

Helen Noll joined Lambourn Parish Council as a Councillor for the Lambourn Ward in April 2021. In this open letter Helen introduces herself to the residents of Lambourn:

Dear Residents of Lambourn,

I stood for election, no one stood against me and I therefore find myself the new member of the Lambourn Parish Council.

Our family home has been in Lambourn since 1999, living in the same house on Station Road for over twenty years.

In 2005 my husband’s work took us on  assignments to Vienna, Dubai, Zurich, Stuttgart and Prague.  Lambourn was always our family home and we made many visits during the twelve years we worked abroad.  I have worked in schools in the UK and abroad, most recently I have been working with Czech charities during my six years in Prague.

On my return in March, the pandemic struck and alongside a great team of volunteers we did our best to help the Lambourn Valley residents during what continue to be challenging times.  I have been very impressed how people have risen to surface, offering to drive patients for vaccines, bake cakes to cheer up residents, do shopping, pick up prescriptions and also give generous donations to the Lambourn Junction, food bank.  It has shown me how supportive our village and the surrounding community can be.

My remit as a local Councillor is limited to the responsibilities of the Parish Council. As the tier of local government closest to the residents this is where we understand, raise and debate local issues and also have the ability to interact and represent the views of residents to West Berkshire Council in matters such as planning, the state of roads and many other local services. I would like residents to contact me with their concerns and I will do my best to represent those views at Parish Council meetings.

I have been married to Christian for over thirty years, have three children Pete who runs a business locally, Tess a teacher near Newbury and Maddie who is working on her PhD at Liverpool. I love the countryside, especially walking with friends, enjoying the beauty of our local surroundings.

To contact me, please email me helen@noll.uk or call me on 07770394123

Yours,
