Big Boost for Lambourn: New Welfare Officer Funded for Racing Community
Local support for racing’s workforce is getting a meaningful boost thanks to a generous commitment from Simon Sadler, owner of TBT Racing to Racing Welfare. Simon will fund the full salary of a Lambourn based Welfare Officer for the next 12 months, ensuring that vital, front line help continues to be available right here in the Valley of the Racehorse.
Lambourn is at the heart of British racing, with a large number of trainers, stable staff and support teams working locally. With that comes a real and ongoing need for welfare support. Through Racing Welfare, the Welfare Officer provides confidential one to one advice and practical help for people facing all sorts of challenges, from health and finances to housing and personal difficulties.
Simon Sadler spoke about wanting to give something back to a sport that has given him so much, and this feels exactly that, a practical and thoughtful contribution that will make a real difference day to day.
There was also a chance to mark the moment locally, with a small gathering at the yard of Ed Walker, where many of TBT Racing’s horses are trained.
It is always encouraging to see investment like this directed straight into the community. Behind every racehorse is a team of dedicated people, and support like this helps ensure they are looked after too.
