Lambourn and Upper Lambourn are working villages where individual and strings of racehorses are ridden throughout the day and particularly before 13:00. Please take great care when horses are about. Horses can be spooked by sudden movements, domestic animals and loud noises which in turn can endanger the horse, the rider and you.
On this walk you will be going through countryside which is used by a pheasant and partridge shoot who have rearing pens in the woodland alongside the public paths. Please keep dogs on a lead.

The Walk
Start at the Lambourn Market Square and walk along the Highstreet. After Edwards hill take a narrow footpath on your left which takes you onto Greenways.
Continue past Lambourn primary School on your left and take the next turn on your right. At the end of the tarmacked road continue straight along the bridleway.
Continue up the hill. There is a wonderful view of Lambourn from the top.
Walk down the hill. The path turns into a farm road and when the road turns right continue straight. After a while you will see barns and a house on your roght.
Proceed through the five bar gate and follow the path across the field. Turn left.
On tour left is a delightful cottage with a beautifully kept garden.
Turn right along the track and continue straight with a clump of trees on your right.
Take the path across the field on your left after 300 meters. Continue through the woods and out on the other side onto a farm track. Turn left.
Climb over the style into the field to appreciate the dew pond.
Continue back along the track. There is another cottage ahead of you nestling in the trees. Take the leftmost fork in the road and continue along the edge of the field.
The track starts to rise and you will see the White Shute Nature Reserve on your left.
Continue along the track which will lead you back onto Greenways and the Primary School and ultimately back to the market square.
