A Community Orchard for Lambourn

Lambourn Parish Council has announced a proposal for a Community Orchard for Lambourn with a possible site on the land adjoining Newbury Road at Woodbury. The Council written to residents in the Woodbury area informing them of the plan and asking for assitance with the planting:

To the Residents of Woodbury:

Through the hard work of local residents, Mrs Brewer, Mrs Andreski and Mrs Temple, the Lambourn Parish Council have been able to progress the discussion with West Berkshire Council regarding a Community Orchard

The area of ground near Woodbury (road frontage onto Newbury Road), has been selected as a possible site.

To begin with we would like to plant 15 trees (apples and cherries).

For this to be a success we need your help and involvement.

  • Are you able to spare some time to help with planting or maintaining the trees?
  • Do you have valuable knowledge about tree care?
  • Are you willing to help with advice and maintenance?

The planting will take place November/early December.

Please see attached planting plans

In order to facilitate this, the crowns of the existing Lime trees will be lifted, to provide more light,

We have got agreement from West Berkshire Council to use the land and a donation of the trees from the Environment department (West Berkshire).  What we need is your help in order to get them planted and bedded in.

Please let the Parish Council know if you are able to offer assistance. A message can be left on the answerphone, or an email sent in.

Further update will be available on the Lambourn Community Facebook page.

Lambourn Parish Council confirmed that comments from residents are very welcome as part of the consultation process.
