Hot To Trot Racing syndicate celebrates it’s 100th Winner
A section of Lambourn’s renowned Mandown gallops has been given a subtle but lasting addition, following a tree planting ceremony to mark a notable racing milestone.
On Saturday 11 April, members of the Hot To Trot Racing syndicate gathered on the Downs to celebrate their 100th winner by planting a line of beech trees alongside the historic turf gallops. The project, supported by Jockey Club Estates, has introduced ten young trees to the landscape, each representing a chapter in the syndicate’s success.

The milestone holds particular significance in Lambourn, where the syndicate has many horses in training across local yards. That close connection to the village and its racing community made Mandown a fitting location for the tribute, linking their achievements directly to the place where so many of their horses are prepared.
The trees themselves have been carefully chosen for both symbolism and visual impact. A mix of copper beech, known for its deep purple foliage, and green beech, with its bright, fresh leaves, will create a striking contrast as they mature. Over the seasons, they will bring changing colour and texture to the gallops, from the rich tones of summer to the warm hues of autumn.
Positioned along a well used stretch of Mandown, the planting is already visible to trainers, riders and walkers who cross the Downs each day. A small commemorative plaque marks the occasion.
As the trees take root, they will become part of the fabric of this historic training ground, reflecting both Lambourn’s heritage and its continuing role at the heart of British racing.
