West Berkshire Council Invests in Lambourn Street Resurfacing

West Berkshire Council has launched a significant investment to improve the streets of Lambourn through extensive resurfacing work, addressing long-standing concerns from local residents about the condition of the roads.

For several years, residents have raised issues over the numerous potholes and uneven surfaces that have plagued Lambourn’s streets, creating both an inconvenience and a safety risk for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. While requests for pothole repairs have been a recurring theme, the council’s decision to undertake complete resurfacing of some sections offers a more comprehensive solution.

Large sections of Newbury Street, a key artery running through the village, are set to benefit from the upgrade. The resurfacing will stretch from Market Square to the Lambourn Fire Station, ensuring a smoother, safer road for all who travel through this bustling part of the community.

The project follows closely on the heels of recent resurfacing efforts on Baydon Hill, another vital route into the village. Together, these improvements are expected to enhance the safety and comfort of Lambourn’s road network, making travel easier for both local residents and visitors alike.

Local reaction to the initiative has been largely positive, with many expressing relief that long-awaited improvements are finally being carried out. A resident commented, “We’ve been asking for the potholes to be fixed for years, but this resurfacing is an even better outcome. The roads were getting so dangerous, so it’s great to see real progress.”
