Lambourn Carnival 2021

The Festival Committee has been giving a lot of though about whether our lovely Lambourn village will be able to hold a Carnival again this August. We know how much everyone is looking forward to a time when we can celebrate together. So……. this is the current situation:

We are of course going to take note of all the government advice and controls in place at the time, but, provided it is safe and practical to go ahead, the Carnival will be a yes! We do of course need to see the Government’s decision on 21st June before making any final decisions. Therefore please wait for further news before doing too much planning on the practical side! If the rules on face masks and social distancing are still in place we will not be able to run the Carnival. But, if everything goes to plan the Carnival will take place on August Bank Holiday Sunday – 29th August.

Here are a few familiar outdoor Festival Activities that you’ll still see this year:

  • Picnic on the Porch – Sunday 22nd or 29th August, depending on the Carnival
  • Scarecrow competition
  • Car Treasure Hunt
  • Photo Quiz
  • Scarrotts fun fair will proudly support carnival week as always at the rec!

There are also some new events planned that include; the sunflower growing competition, a chalk drawing competition, a movie challenge and a version of the old Fun Run.
The Sunflower competition is already up and running, but watch this space for more info about the new planned events!

So, hope this is good news for everyone. The committee meet monthly and the next meeting is at the end of June, just after the Government announcement. If we have any updates in the meantime we’ll let you know.Happy planning! To keep up to date with everything Festival & Carnival join us on the Lambourn Carnival & Facebook Group!
