Rogation Sunday 2009
The Parishes of Lambourn, Eastbury and East Garston once again joined together in celebrating Rogationtide on Sunday 17th May 2009. Short services were held at three locations along the valley, one in each parish. The first venue was Dixon’s Farm at Lambourn Woodlands where we were welcomed with coffee and biscuits by David and Wendy Wallis. David told us about the farm and explained some of his wonderful collection of old farming machinery. The Rev Tony Cumberlidge then led us in a short service of hymn, prayer and readings.
Then onward to Eastbury, once again to be welcomed to Eastbury Cottage Stables by Alastair and Alison Lidderdale. Alastair told us something of the way a racing yard is run and Tony led us in further prayer and blessing.
Our final service was held at Lorne Hill Farm, East Garston, home of Jonathan and Joanne Rabbitts. Jonathan explained the diverse nature of the farm and, following a service of blessing and thanksgiving the children were invited to feed the chickens and lambs.
