Remembrance Day 2020
November 8th 2020
A very overcast day and even with the COVID-19 distancing in place, it did not deter a large number of the Lambourn Community gathering at the War Memorial at 10.45.
Due to the situation this year, the normal service inside the Church was not held but the smaller service was held at the War Memorial, this was led by Rev Julie Mintern and with the addition of a PA System for all those around the Church grounds and the Square proved very successful. Accompanying Julie was The Ven. Christine Allsopp and Fr David O’Sullivan from The Sacred Heart RC Church.
Peter Penfold read the Roll of Honour, which are all the names of men in Lambourn Valley who lost their lives during WW1, WW11 and following years of conflict.
The Last Post and Reveille was played by James Hindson from Wantage Silver Band and The Exhortation was given by Lambourn Royal British Legion branch president Margaret Leahy and Kohima Epitaph by Mick Oliver.
Standards were carried by John North and Victoria Moxon.
Wreaths were laid for Royal British Legion, RBL Women’s Section, Lambourn Parish Council, Priest and Parishioners Sacred Heart Church, Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, 1st Lambourn Brownies, 1st Lambourn Guides, Lambourn Sports Club, Lambourn Event & Carnival Committee and Silver Circle.
The morning was well organised and many thanks to everyone involved.
