Remembrance Day 2019
After the excessively wet weather during the previous days leading up to Remembrance Day Service, we were very lucky to have a cold but sunny morning for our annual gathering.
It was good to see so many parishioners gather to pay respects. The laying of the wreaths was followed by a service in the Church.
Lambourn’s new vicar, the Rev Julie Mintern, presided over her first Remembrance Service in the village and was accompanied by The Ven Christine Allsopp and the new Catholic priest, Father David O’ Sullivan
The Kohima Epitaph was given by Lambourn Royal British Legion branch president Margaret Leahy and The Exhortation by David Barber, ex-Army 9th/12th Lancers.
Standards were carried by John North, RBL and Victoria Moxon for the Lambourn RBL Women’s Section also standards for Guides and Brownies.
Last Post and reveille given by Gareth Coulson, Wantage Silver Band.
Wreaths were laid for Royal British Legion, RBL Women’s Section, Lambourn Parish Council, Priest and Parishioners Sacred Heart Church, Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, 1st Lambourn Brownies, 1st Lambourn Guides, Lambourn Silver Circle, Lambourn Event & Carnival Committee and Major Steve White laid a wreath on behalf of The Parachute Regiment.
After the service in the Church there was a buffet lunch in the British Legion
