Remembrance Day 2014

Sunshine and blue skies greeted a large crowd in Lambourn who gathered to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday.

The service which began at the War Memorial and continued in St Michael and All Angels Church, was conducted by Revd. Martin Cawte. 

 Lt Col Jon Fleming gave the Exhortation and Ken Pugh the Kohima Prayer.

 The Bugler playing Last Post & Reveille was Group Captain Dom Stamp CBE RAF from the Wantage Silver Band: a serving RAF Officer based at High Wycombe.

 Lambourn RBL Standard was carried by John North and Nicola McGuiness carried the Standard for The Royal Navy Association (Newbury)

 Abigail Ramon, aged 9, read a poem which she had written.

Wreaths laid, were from The Military Stabilisation Support Group (MSSG) based at Denison Barracks, Hermitage: Lieutenant Colonel Hedley French, The Parachute Regiment & Staff Sergeant David King MBE, Royal Signals: both by kind permission of Lieutenant Colonel Alcun Johnson, The Yorkshire Regiment, Commanding Officer MSSG.

Other wreaths were laid by Lt Col Jon Fleming, President of Lambourn RBL
Betty Dowdeswell, President of Lambourn, RBL Women’s Section
Sue Cocker: Lambourn Parish Council
‘Mac’ McEvoy: Catholic Community
Dave Fowler: The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffalos
Malcolm Rolfe: Lambourn Sports Club and
Kevin Puffett, Lambourn Fire Brigade.

After the service, everyone was invited back to The Royal British Legion for a splendid buffet lunch.
