This C-47 ‘Night Fright’s story start in 1943 in California. She was ferried east for overseas assignment and eventually assigned to 436th Troop Carrier Group’s, 79th Troop Carrier Squadron.
101st Airborne Division paratroopers of the 1st Battalion 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, the 377th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion and a detachment of the 326th Airborne Medical Company arrived at Membury to make their preparation for their part in the Invasion.
A fascination story of the C-47 which returned to Membury.
‘Night Fright’ was found in Arkansas in 2012 and due to be scrapped, after another long story and the Walker Family wanted to bring her ‘home’ their dream of restoring a C-47 was going to be a long term plan but bringing her back to Membury from where she flew in WW11 is on its way to a dream fulfilled.
Guy Martin’s D-Day Landing’ Documentary
The Night Fright team had an amazing few weeks at Membury and saw Charlie Walker and Neil Jones fly in with the Aero Legends C-47 Drag ’em Oot’, the first C-47 landing at Membury since October 1946.
The drop was part of a documentary that the Night Fright team have been working closely on, collaborating with North One Television and Guy Martin for over 12 months remembering D-Day 75. The feature length production “Guy Martin’s D-Day Landing” aired on Channel 4
