Many Clouds Horse of the Year 2017
Lambourn’s 2015 Grand National ‘Hero’ Many Clouds’ won the title of Horse of the Year after a landslide victory. He captured 65% of the votes, from the 3,689 votes cast, 2,416 were for Many Clouds.
After winning the National in 2015 he had the most phenomenal turn out the following day from residents when he was walked down to the village from his ‘home’ at Rhonehurst by Trainer Oliver Sherwood, Chris (CJ) Jerdin (Groom) and the Sherwood Team, crowds gathered to greet him. It was a magnificent sight.
Many Clouds won over the hearts of so many and built up a tremendous following but sadly and suddenly, he died at Cheltenham in January, after defeating Thistlecrack in the Cotswold Chase ridden by Leighton Aspell who partnered him.
Such a bitter sweet success for Oliver Sherwood and his team but one which the village believe is so well deserved.
