Lambourn Volunteers receive Community Champion Award

The Lambourn Community Volunteers have received the Covid Response Community of the year award 2020 from West Berkshire Council. The Lambourn Community Volunteers formed in March 2020 in the first wave of the Covid pandemic to assist residents of the Lambourn Valley and the surrounding areas. Over 70 volunteers have performed a wide variety of tasks including collecting prescriptions, shopping, lawn mowing. The Volunteers liaised with the GP surgery, West Berks Adult Social Care and the Community Hub at West Berkshire Council Offices. The are currently assisting with the Lambourn Drivers, to get residents along the valley to their vaccination and hospital appointments. The Lambourn Community Volunteers started the Lambourn Junction, a drop in food hub run by the community for the community, which is continuing to operate and has won a Community Award separately for the work they do.

The team of volunteers were recognised by Nick Carter, Chief Executive and Graham Pask, Chairman of the Council for the amazing work they have done to support the local community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
