Lambourn Remembrance Day 2023
In the face of inclement weather, the Lambourn community steadfastly gathered at the war memorial for a poignant Remembrance Day ceremony. Undeterred by the elements, the attendees stood united in their commitment to honouring the sacrifices of the fallen heroes. Wreaths, adorned with poppies, were solemnly laid at the memorial, each symbolic of the lives lost in the pursuit of freedom. The last post sounded across the churchyard and Market Square. The Reverend Julie Mintern spoke movingly and Pete Penfold read the names of the fallen.
The atmosphere resonated with a profound sense of reverence and remembrance, as young and old of the community stood together in reflection. The ceremony, despite the chilly weather, emanated a spirit of hope – a testament to the resilience of a community that understands the importance of commemorating the past for a better future.
Following the wreath-laying, the community walked into St Michael’s and All Angels Church for a moving service led by the Reverend Julie Mintern. The walls of the church echoed with prayers and solemn reflections, encapsulating the collective sentiment of gratitude and respect. In unity Lambourn came together to ensure that the memories of those who gave their all were not just remembered but cherished in the hearts of the community.
