Flood alert for Groundwater flooding in the Lambourn Valley catchment
10 Dec 2024 – From the Environment Agency:
Groundwater levels are currently rising at our Longacre borehole in the Lambourn Valley as a result of persistent rainfall. Groundwater levels are above normal for this time of year and have reached a level where communities may be affected by groundwater flooding within the next week. We expect levels to rise over coming weeks and levels remain sensitive to further sustained rainfall. Low-lying land, roads and basements will therefore to be at risk of flooding. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer.
