Do just one thing – take a walk

In memory of Dr. Michael Mosley, broadcaster and a fervent advocate for health and wellness, it is fitting to reflect on his simple yet powerful advice: do just one thing – take a walk. The picturesque countryside around Lambourn provides an ideal setting for walking. Known for its rolling hills and tranquil charm, Lambourn offers a connection to nature that can be truly de-stressing from the everyday pressures.

The pictures are from our walk out of Lambourn towards Rooksnest and back in just under an hour – it reminded us of what a privilege it is to live in such beautiful surroundings.

Walking is often underestimated, but its benefits are significant. Regular walks can improve cardiovascular health, strengthen muscles, enhance mood, and boost cognitive function. Dr. Mosley highlighted how walking could help manage weight, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and improve mental health. It’s a low-impact activity suitable for almost everyone, making it an ideal choice for maintaining health and vitality.

Lambourn’s countryside is a walker’s paradise. The area boasts routes for all fitness levels and time constraints. Whether you have just 20 minutes or an entire day, the paths here promise a rejuvenating experience. As you stroll through fields and lanes, vibrant wildflowers adorn the hedgerows, offering an ever-changing display. These floral arrangements, shifting with the seasons, ensure that each walk has a new backdrop.

Bird enthusiasts will find Lambourn particularly rewarding. The skies above teem with various bird species, from the chirpy skylarks to the majestic red kites, adding a dynamic and uplifting dimension to any walk. Each step brings a new sighting, a new song, and a renewed sense of connection to the natural world.
