Confirmation Service 2014
Confirmed in faith at Lambourn
THE BISHOP of Reading, the Rt Rev Andrew Proud, presided at a recent confirmation service in St Michael and All Angels’ Church , Lambourn
He reminded those gathered in the packed Norman church of the many Christians who had witnessed to the faith in Lambourn for more than a thousand years and told them that each day 70,000 new Christians join the faith worldwide.
During the inspiring and joyful service the Bishop confirmed 21 candidates from East Garston, Eastbury, Lambourn and neighbouring parishes in the Newbury Deanery.
As each candidate was confirmed as a full member of the Church by the laying of hands and anointing with oil, the Bishop addressed them by their Christian name and spoke words from the prophet Isaiah:”God has called you by name”
At the end of the service the Bishop led the candidates out of the church by the historic west door into the sunshine.
