Remembrance Day 2017

Remembrance Day

A cold breeze and a ‘rain threatening’ morning didn’t stop the Wreath laying outside St Michael and All Angels.  As everyone gathered at 10.45 the breeze threw the golden leaves down like poppy petals
The outdoor service was followed by a service in St Michael and All Angels.

The Exhortation was said by the new president of the Lambourn branch of the Royal British Legion, Margaret Leahy.

The Last Post was played by Adam Johnstone from the Wantage Silver Band and the Kohima Epitaph was read by Michael Lawrence

After the two minutes’ silence, Reveille was played and wreaths were laid on behalf of  the legion branch by Mrs Leahy, Legion’s Women’s section- Anna Bradford, Lambourn Parish Council -Peter Penfold, the Brownies, Lambourn Fire Service, Lambourn Sports Club, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes.

The standard bearers were John North for the Lambourn Royal British Legion branch and Victoria Moxon for the Lambourn Royal British Legion Women’s  Section.

A collection for the Poppy Appeal raised £510

After the service in the Church there was a buffet lunch in the British Legion
