Remembrance Day

A cool day but dry as Lambourn gathered at the War Memorial.

Attendance at the War Memorial was up on previous years and Wing Commander Edd Watkins and party from 77 Brigade at Hermitage attend to lay their wreaths. 

Wreaths were also laid by
Lt Col Jon Fleming, Lambourn British Legion Branch, Betty Dowdeswell -Lambourn Women’s Section
Malcolm Rolfe – Lambourn Sports Club, Lambourn Fire Brigade, Clergy and Catholic Community and Lambourn Parish Council

 Lambourn RBL’s standard and standard bearer (Mr John North) were joined by the new Lambourn Womens’ Section standard bearer, Victoria Moxon. 
Alan Johnson from Wantage Band played Last Post and Reveille

The subsequent church service included a poem, written and read by 10-year old Abigail Ramos.  The collection for the Poppy appeal during the service raised £600, which will be added to the money that is being collected at Membury Services (West).  £687.70 had been raised a week earlier from the Annual Poppy Raffle with £377.21 being collected during the wake of Mr Ken Pugh, a former Branch President.

Following the church service, most repaired to the Lambourn Legion for refreshments and the annual speech of thanks from the Branch President, Lt Col Jon Fleming OBE Ret’d.
