Medication shortages
You may be aware from the press that international shortages of many medications may be causing delays in dispensing to patients. Both Lambourn Pharmacy and the Surgery Dispensary are working tirelessly to minimize the impact on patients by seeking alternative sources and substitute medication. In the meantime please give good notice when requesting repeat prescriptions (ideally 5 days) so that the dispensers have adequate time to fulfil your request. Please do not make unnecessary requests to stockpile since this will only aggravate the problem. I am sure that you understand this difficult situation and will respect that all of the staff are doing their best in these challenging circumstances.
Pharmacy First
It is worth a reminder that Lambourn Pharmacy works closely with the surgery on many aspects of healthcare. As well as providing Prescription Services for many patients they also fully participate in the national Pharmacy First initiative.
This provides a walk in service with no appointment required for certain conditions or you may be referred by the surgery or the NHS 111 service.
- Earache: Ages 1 to 17 years
- Impetigo: Ages 1 year and over
- Infected insect bites: Ages 1 year and over
- Shingles: Ages 18 years and over
- Sinusitis: Ages 12 years and over
- Sore throat: Ages 5 years and over
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs): Women aged 16 to 64 years
You are able to speak privately with a pharmacist who can supply prescription-only medicines (like antibiotics or antivirals) if needed.
In addition Lambourn Pharmacy can provide both regular and emergency contraceptive services and blood pressure monitoring services.
