Celebrating Success at Lambourn Air Rifle Club’s Prize Giving Evening

There was a buzz of excitement and a great sense of community spirit at the Lambourn Air Rifle Club’s recent prize giving evening, as members gathered to celebrate a year of excellent achievements, new friendships and growing participation in the sport.
Cups and awards were presented to club members who have achieved notable success both within the club and in wider regional competitions. From seasoned marksmen to newer recruits, the evening was a proud showcase of skill, commitment and camaraderie.
The club, which meets at the Lambourn Sports Club on Bockhampton Road, has seen steady growth in membership, with new faces regularly joining its welcoming ranks. Open to all, from enthusiastic youngsters to experienced seniors, the club offers coaching and practice sessions in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Club Captain Simon Mooney expressed his delight at the club’s progress. “It’s wonderful to see our membership growing. Members are clearly enjoying the sport, and it’s fantastic to see so many of them achieving excellent results, both locally and in competitions.”
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of MKM Newbury, the club continues to enhance its facilities. MKM has supported the purchase of specialist equipment, including a bespoke shooting stand designed for participants who have difficulty holding an air rifle.
Rob Burrough, Club Chairman, said: “This equipment allows people with physical strength or movement challenges to take part in the sport. It’s a great step towards making air rifle shooting accessible to a wider range of individuals.”
Andy Barrett of MKM praised the club’s ethos. “The Lambourn Air Rifle Club is a great organisation. It blends skill and precision with a brilliant social atmosphere. We’re proud to support them.”
Importantly, you don’t need to own an air rifle to get started. The club has a selection of rifles available for use, making it easy for anyone to try out the sport.
With a growing membership, a welcoming environment, and a strong record of success, the Lambourn Air Rifle Club is proving itself to be a real asset to the local sporting scene. New members are always welcome so if you’ve ever fancied trying your hand at air rifle shooting, Tuesday evenings at 7:30 in Lambourn might be just the place to start.
