A Productive Morning at The Lambourn Shed’s Bird Box Workshop

The Lambourn Shed, part of the Lambourn Junction Community Interest Company, hosted a bird box-making session, bringing together 20 people of all ages for a hands-on morning of woodworking. Participants cut, glued, drilled, and hammered their way to building bird boxes designed to RSPB guidelines, creating safe nesting homes for robins, tits, and other local birds.

The workshop was fuelled by hot bacon rolls, cakes, and plenty of tea and coffee, making for a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. One participant commented, “It was a great way to spend a morning—learning new skills, chatting, and making something useful for the local wildlife.”

The event was made possible thanks to donated wood, tools, and the use of the workshop space. The Lambourn Shed regularly runs practical sessions like this, giving people a chance to acquire new skills while also encouraging conversation and community connections.

The next workshop will focus on breadmaking and takes place at Walwyn Hall on 8th March at 10 am. To book a place, email shed@lambournjunction.uk.
